What Paint Correction Actually Removes
Paint correction removes defects from your clear coat: swirl marks, spider-webbing, wash scratches, oxidation, and the buffer trails a dealer left behind. We correct paint for drivers across College Station and Bryan every week, so if you have been searching for paint correction near you, you are in the right place. It is not a glaze that hides them for a month and washes out.
We take paint depth readings on every single vehicle, no exceptions. Clear coat is finite and cannot be replaced once it is gone, so those readings tell us exactly how much material we have to work with. That is what determines whether a defect is safe to remove, and it is the step most shops skip.
Both packages begin with our Full Exterior Detail: a two-bucket hand wash, hand-washed wheels and tires, an undercarriage cleanse and dressing, and full paint decontamination. On a standalone correction that also includes trim dressing, no-sling tire dressing, exterior trim protectant, and a hydrophobic windshield treatment. If your correction is part of a ceramic coating package, we coat your trim and glass instead of dressing them, because a dressing lasts weeks and a coating lasts years.

Why Clients Choose Envy for Paint Correction
Measured Before We Polish
We take paint depth readings on every vehicle we correct. Clear coat is finite, and once it is gone it cannot be replaced. Those readings tell us exactly how much we have to work with, so every decision is based on your actual paint instead of a guess.
Honest About What Comes Out
Our One Step targets 75% or more defect removal and our Two Step targets 90% or more. Anything deeper than the clear coat is not safe to chase. We show you those before we start rather than burn through your paint to make a sale.
The Right Package, Not The Bigger One
Most vehicles are best served by a One Step, especially newer ones where factory paint is thin. Pushing a client into more correction than their paint needs is how shops run a vehicle out of clear coat. We recommend the lesser service when it is the right one.
Protect The Finish You Paid For
After correction your paint is raw, unprotected clear coat, exposed to UV, contaminants, and wash damage. A ceramic coating locks the finish in, which is why most clients pair the two and why every coating package we offer includes a correction first. If your vehicle is new, our New Vehicle Protection Packages bundle correction, coating, film, and tint in one visit.
Correction work is the reason a lot of people make the drive, including from Navasota, about 30 minutes away, and Huntsville, about 45 minutes east. Correction is also what decides how a coating turns out, which we lay out in our ceramic coating vs wax comparison, and every starting price we charge is on our pricing page. Larger paint responds to the same process, which is why we polish recreational vehicles the same way.
Paint Correction Questions and Answers
No, and any shop that promises that without seeing your vehicle is guessing. Our One Step Paint Correction targets 75% or more defect removal, and our Two Step targets 90% or more. Scratches that go deeper than the clear coat cannot be removed safely, because removing them would mean cutting past the clear coat your paint depends on. We take paint depth readings on every vehicle, show you which defects fall into that category, and tell you before we begin rather than after.
We recommend it. Once your paint has been corrected, what you are left with is raw, unprotected clear coat. There is nothing on it, which leaves the finish you just paid for exposed to UV, contaminants, chemical etching, and wash damage. A ceramic coating locks that finish in and protects the work. This is why most of our correction clients pair the two, and why every one of our coating packages includes a correction first.
Our paint correction packages correct a variety of issues with vehicle paintwork. These include, but are not limited to, stains from bird droppings and bug splatters, fading from overexposure to the sun’s UV rays, light scratches from a variety of hazards, swirl marks from poor washing techniques, and etching caused by acid rain.
We have gotten this question quite a bit due to a misconception that paint correction means we remove the paintwork from a vehicle and then have to repaint or refinish it in some way. Paint correction ONLY abrades away some of the clear coat, which is where the defects we correct reside. ANY vehicle stands to have paint correction done, whether it is a million dollar sports car or a well loved daily driver.
No! We see quite a few mildly defective and even brand new vehicles roll into our College Station, Texas detailing shop. Brand new vehicles can actually benefit quite a bit from our vehicle paint correction packages in that they are not nearly as flawless as a dealership will sell you on. Small defects compound as they are transported between dealerships and while on the lot you buy it from, and buffing and polishing their paintwork will bring out new, unrecognized value.
The difference is how much defect removal we target. Our One Step targets 75% or more defect removal with a single-stage polish. Our Two Step targets 90% or more using a compound and polish.
Here is our honest recommendation: most vehicles are best served by a One Step, especially newer ones. Modern factory paint is thin, and clear coat is finite. Chasing the last few percentage points of correction costs you clear coat you can never get back. A Two Step is typically the right call for show cars or heavily defected paint, not a well-kept daily driver.
We take paint depth readings on every vehicle before we start, so the recommendation is based on your actual paint rather than a guess. If your car only needs a One Step, that is what we will tell you.
