Ricky Bordeau opened Envy This Detailing in 2021, and there are 25+ years of combined experience on the floor. We are a certified Owner’s Pride installer and a certified CovrGard installer, which means the brands we install trained us on their own product and stand behind the work when we do it.

How Envy This Detailing Started

The first business was wheel polishing. Big show truck wheels, billet, the kind that live or die on how they catch the light. That is where Ricky found out he liked the work, and where he found out he could not leave a job alone until it was right. Detailing came next. He ran it mobile for a few years, then shelved it to see whether the grass was greener on the other side. It was not.

During covid he was working at Edge General Store, his parents’ shop. Once restrictions started to lift he decided to take life more seriously, and a close family friend handed him a bay and a one year deadline to make something of it. He was not charged rent while he found his feet. That is not a small thing to be given at 22, and it is not something he has forgotten.

The first vehicle was a neighbor’s Toyota Prius. Eighty dollars, twelve hours. Anyone who has ever priced their own labor will recognize the trade, and anyone who has met Ricky will understand why he did not stop at hour six.

Inside that first year he was out of the borrowed bay and into a shop of his own. Then a second one, larger. The next step is a facility built for this work from the ground up instead of a building adapted to it, and that is what the last five years have been paying for.

The hardest stretch was not the first year. It was the growing. Expanding a shop is not a products problem, it is a people problem, and the person standing over your vehicle is what you actually buy. So the hiring bar is simple. We look for people who are not satisfied with what this industry is willing to call its best, and then we hand them the right products and the right training and let them go past it. That takes longer than hiring in a hurry. It is the only version of this that we are interested in.

The work he is proudest of is a color change paint protection film build on our client Wallace’s Mazda MX-5. The accepted wisdom was that full coverage on that body was not achievable. We finished it at one hundred percent coverage. Months later it is still at one hundred percent coverage, which is the part that actually counts.

Avery has run the front office since she joined the team this year, and she was on the sideline for every year before that. She is the voice on the phone, the person who gets your vehicle on the calendar, and the reason the front of this shop is run as carefully as the back of it.

People ask where the name came from. There is a story behind it, and you will have to ask Ricky.

He opened the doors at twenty two. The standard has not moved since the Prius. Nothing leaves this shop rushed, nobody here will sell you protection your vehicle does not need, and every job is done to be right the first time rather than fast the first time. What It Is Like to Work With Us

You get a real number before we start. If the job runs longer than we thought it would, that is our problem and not yours. A customer wrote about exactly that after his job ran long and the price did not move. He called it “the sign of an honest business.”

We fix the paint before we protect it. A coating seals in whatever is underneath it. If the swirls and scratches are still there when it goes on, you have locked them in for years. So we take the defects out first, then coat. It costs us the extra day, and it is the reason the work still looks right in year three.

We will tell you what something will not do. If a product is not right for how you actually drive, we will say so, including when the bigger package is the one that pays us more. You should leave here understanding your own vehicle better than when you arrived.

We take the job that needs the time. Every piece of film is cut to your vehicle, so you do not get visible edges or corners that lift in six months. And if another shop hedged on it, bring it here. A customer brought us a set of wheels he said anyone else would have called long gone. They went back on his vehicle looking new.
